(obviously, i > don't know their past 7" output very well.) thanks, It's more like "Astralmoonbeamprojections" than "Perception" (or the stuff which has come out recently as AMP Studio). All tracks feature Richard Amp on various instruments, Karine Charff on vocals. In addition: Guitar by Matt Elliot (who also played viola), Gareth Mitchell, John Cooper. Bass by ME, Matt Jones. Drums (and drum programming) by ME, Guy Cooper. 1. Remember (6 55) with ME, MJ - 95, Linda's Strange Vacation single (LSD 01) This one has a couple of minutes of introduction added (possibly a live extract?). 2. Ombres (4 49) with ME - 96, Enraptured split with Saddar Bazaar (RAPT 4503) 3. Scarborough Fair (2 28) with JC - 96, Wurlitzer Jukebox "Bristol vs Los Angeles" (WJ5) 4. Get There (4 33) with ME, MJ - 95, LSD 01 5. Le Petit Chat (5 06) with ME, MJ - 95/96, B-side of WJ7 6. Noir et Noir (9 46) with GC, GM - 96, unreleased 7. Lutin 2 (12 38) 96, remixed 97, unreleased 8. Frise (8 24) with ME, MJ - 95/96, WJ7 9. Yonder (6 52) sample of GC, 96/97, unreleased The missing single is WJ15, "Beyond/Lutin", "Yonder" is described as "instrumental after Beyond". A shame, as I think "Beyond" (a Gareth Mitchell composition) is one of the best tracks on the early singles. Both sides of WJ7 are awful, the "new" stuff is very good indeed. I think part of the reason why I had such a problem appreciating AMP was that the first things I heard were these singles, and apart from the LSV one (*very* Slowdive-like) they aren't much good. The LSV insert is interesting - the AMP single was the first one, and it promises: LSD 02 - LP (inked over 7") by Third Eye Foundation LSD 03 - LP (again, used to say 7" but inked over) by Foene (Hayn) and in the future 7" by KS Kollective, AMP 7"+LP, 3EF LP, Foene (Hayn) LP. Now LSD02 was indeed the 3EF album, LSD03 was AMP's "Sirenes" (vinyl version at least - I think the CD was on WJ), LSD04 was the 3EF remix album "In Version". Since then I don't think there have been any other releases on that label. Foehn was responsible for one of the tracks on the last 3EF album and has just released a CD on Swarf Finger records, with hand-decorated cover. When I was last in Bristol's Revolver Records, the owner was pushing them on anyone he thought might buy one, I didn't need prompting - it's very like 3EF or the first Movietone album when they were a bit noisier. Matt Elliot co-wrote a couple of tracks on it and Rachel Brook (Movietone) plays on one. Apparently it's a one-woman band, the chap in Revolver said she's lacking in self-confidence so he was trying to promote her a bit. And KS Kollective have had a split single with 3EF on a magazine (Obsessive Eye, I think) which I managed to pick up on its own - the magazine sounds interesting, covering that whole "post-rock" scene (Ganger, the Kranky bands, etc). -- Andrew Norman, Leicester, England nja@le.ac.uk http://www.le.ac.uk/engineering/nja/
