Just a brief news update to let you all know what Belle and Sebastian are up to. Well, we at Jeepster finally heard the tracks of which the album will be selected last weekend. Richard and Isobel came down to London bringing the elusive CD with them. Listening to the CD made me remember just why I fell in love with this band in the first place. The recordings sound fresh and new and (dare i say it!) professional. Once the final tracklisting for the album has been decided, I will let you all know. No doubt, you'll be able to piece most of it together in your own minds already, but all I can say is that it has a totally different feel to both "...Sinister" and "Tigermilk". Not necessarily a change of direction, but more a coming together of ideas and it sounds more like a whole band expressing their inner most secrets. It's very exciting! Tentative release date for the LP looks to be late August/early September ... we still don't have a title! I also hope to have details of gigs for you all quite shortly as well. It looks as though the late summer tour will be going ahead and the band have said they're going into rehearsals for that shortly. Warm-up and UK dates should be announced soon(ish). We hope to be able to sell tickets by credit card for these gigs, info as it comes. There will also be a Jeepster web-site appearing soon at http://www.jeepster.co.uk/ so stay tuned for that as well, designed by Mr Fanclub man himself, David Kitchen (shop@jeepster.co.uk) - soon to be a Jeepster full-timer. So, over the next month or so, I hope to have the answers to all the questions you have been waiting for. I do promise to try get the official and finalised news to you ASAP, so maybe if you hear an "exclusive" bit of news, it may not necessarily be the case and only a rumour so please be patient. Well, 'til next time, Best Wishes, Katrina. Subject: jeepster-news: New Belle and Sebastian album! The band are also planning a three track single to be released before the album. The much sought after debut album Tigermilk is also scheduled for a release in May. It will be re-mastered and available for the first time on CD as well as vinyl. The decision to re-release the album was prompted by the poor quality bootlegs that have been flying around the world. In between recording the next studio album, Belle & Sebastian band members Stuart David and Isobel Campbell have both recorded solo albums for release in March and April respectively. Stuart David's spoken word electronica combo Looper, features his wife Wee Karn and brother Ronnie Black. A joint project with Sub Pop in the U.S., the 10 track debut album Up A Tree on CD and LP is to be released on March 8th. A single Ballad of Ray Suzuki will precede the album on 22nd February and features remixes by Bananahand (Salako) and Twin Tub (Chris Geddes from B&S and Glasgow graphic designer/DJ Andrew Symington) on CD and limited edition 10". Looper will also play some live shows in four independent record shops to coincide with the release of the album. The dates are Tuesday 9th March - Rough Trade Talbot Road, London; Wednesday 10th March - Piccadilly Records, Manchester; Thursday 11th March - Missing Records Wellington Street, Glasgow; Friday 12th March - Avalanche Coburn Street, Edinburgh. Isobel Campbell's project The Gentle Waves is a sixties influenced pop/folk album with Isobel as chanteuse and playing most of the instruments herself. There are also contributions from friends and various members of Belle & Sebastian. The first limited edition (1000 copies) 7" single Weathershow will be released on 22nd March with the debut album The Green Fields of Foreverland intended for release a fortnight later on CD and LP. for more information please head to the Jeepster web-site at http://www.jeepster.co.uk
