A few people asked me to post if I learnt any more. Well, I saw my old badminton buddy, who's been working (maybe too strong a word!) with Anka recently, again last Thursday. He said... Ivo (of 4AD) seems to really want Anka to do some stuff on the 4AD label. Apparently he was trying to get Anka to work with some well known bloke (unfortunately my pal couldn't remember who!!) on a collaboration but, also apparently, nobody tells Anka what to do! She's unavailable at the moment (holiday?) but my friend seems to think that something will emerge from her in the coming months, very likely on 4AD. It's just a question of whether it's solo or a collaboration. Sorry it's so vague. In fact, it's all third-hand so I'd take it with a pinch of salt too, if I were you! Simon Hughes P.S. Someone asked me why Anka left Xymox. I don't really know, but the impression I get is that she just got bored. The only thing I remember my pal saying was that it was a shame cos. she, rather than Ronny, had all the best new songs! I don't think he said anything about Ronny, but he did say that Anka and Pieter were collaborating on some stuff. Richard (my pal) thinks they're great songs but then he prefers "Phoenix" Xymox to the earlier stuff (he would, he played on it). He said that stuff should come out on 4AD but there were no contracts and Anka was getting a bit pissed off at the wait for the paperwork so she might try and find another label. Don't take this as gospel, it's a bit third-hand. Who do they think they are? Frazier Chorus? byefornow, K- p.s. that Frazier Chorus thing was sort of a joke. i'm embarrassed to say i really like them, but they returned after something like a five year absence with that crap 'wide awake' ep. so unfortunate.
