Date: Mon, 20 May 1996 21:01:23 -0700 From: Dewdrops Records (nelson@ASTRO.UCLA.EDU) Subject: Cocteau Twins press release Direct from Capitol, this is the latest press release, dated May 13, regarding the Cocteau Twins. Any typing errors are probably mine. This may have been covered on the CT list, but I'm not on there for exactly the reasons Jens stated: too much noise. Brant ---------- Already the recipient of early critical acclaim, the Cocteau Twins' forthcoming full length album Milk & Kisses was just released to College Radio on April 29 where it was #1 most added at CMJ, Gavin college and Hits Indie Rock! "Tishbite," the first track, will be released to Commercial Alternative and AAA radio on May 13 and Milk & Kisses will be in stores on May 14. As part of the launch, the Cocteau Twins will perform for a live internet simulcast, broadcast from their own September Sound Studios in London on May 22. "Lunchtime With The Coctea Twins" will take place at 12:00 noon in Los Angeles (9:00 pm in teh UK), and it will be broadcast using Real Audio. Produced by the Cocteau Twins and Capitol Records New Media in conjunction with Traffic Interactive, the netcast can be accessed via the Capitol Records website on the worldwide web at http://hollywoodandvine.com or the Cocteau Twins site at and it did NOT work. The link on the Dewdrops web page still works though.] The band -- Robin Guthrie, Elizabeth Fraser and Simon Raymonde -- will begin a US tour in Atlanta on June 7. Although the opening act is still to be announced, concertgoers can stay after the Cocteau performance as DJ Mark Clifford of Seefeel/Disjecta will spin late into the night. The Cocteau tour will conclude with a performance at the first Lollapalooza show, in Longview Lake, near Kansas City, Missouri on June 27. They will fill the "guest slot" playing immediately prior to Soundgarden. A partial itenerary is listed below, but more sates and details will be announced shortly. The uniquitous Cocteau Twins are also featured on the forthcoming soundtrack to the highly anticipated Bernardo Bertolucci film, Stealing Beauty. The beautiful, yet haunting "Alice" was written after the band saw this equally beautiful and sensual film that will premiere at the Cannes film festival. The Stealing Beauty soundtrack will be in stores on May 28. The film opens in New York and Los Angeles on June 14, and in July nationally. The acclaim of two recent EP releases, the largely acoustic "Twinlights" and the more ambient "Otherness" is only superceded by the glowing critical response that Milk & Kisses is already receiving! Buzz magazine says, "One of their best albums to date, filled with ethereal, hypnotic compositions." Entertainment Weekly raves, "listening to the Cocteau Twins is as soothing as sipping warm herbal tea. The band's latest dreamscape floats on shimmering guitar waves and celestial vocal harmonies, but it's more than an aural sedative, mixing melody and atmosphere in just the right dose to guarantee many memorable listens." Interview chimes, "The Twins' sustaining blend of soft, metallic melodies and cobweb-fine vocals urge the listener onto glorious landscapes with ridges for the imagination to fill in."
