Apparently, Toni and Alan are now married -- at least the press release implies that. Alan engineered/produced all three tracks on the single along with Toni and Dean. All is not lost... The URL for the Curve site is: http://www.stack.urc.tue.nl/~conrad/curve/ There's a stateside mirror somewhere, but I don't know it. Here's the entire PR text: >CURVE, the band who had five Top 40 hit singles and two Top 20 albums between 1991 and 1994, will be releasing a brand new single in September. Entitled "Pink Girl With The Blues", the new single will be released on CD and seven inch only on September 2nd on Fatlip Records distributed by Vital. Other new recordings to appear on the single are "Recovery" and "Black Delilah". >At the end of 1993, and after the release of Curve's second LP, "Cuckoo", Toni and Dean decided to take a sabbatical away from the intensity of the music business. Dean produced music for a couple of films which were noticeably Curve-esque when they were shown on TV, gradually finding himself amongst the mores of techno, ambient and jungle thats when he wasn't producing hardcore white noise. Toni sang on the Leftfield hit "Original", got married and rehearsed a band ready for what she wanted - a "toilet tour" by all accounts. The couple's desire to work together again has been motivated by the desire to resume "unfinished business" and there are plans for a third allbum and full UK tour in 1997. >"Pink Girl With The Blue" , "Recovery" and "Black Delilah" are the first fruits of a reunion that a lot of people have been waiting for for some time now. "Pink Girl With The Blue" is classic Curve with a twist (and, hey, good enough to drink), trademark swirly backbeat coupled with a celebratory high-octane-fuelled wall-of-noise verse and chorus that'll knock you for six. All three tracks have been produced by Dean and Toni and mixed by Alan Moulder in Toni's basement (a la "Blindfold" and all the best Curve stuff) - which is currently the place all three are holed up producing a new Curve LP due for release in 1997. >CURVE were one of the first "indie" bands to work within the dance sector, employing remixes by artists as diverse as The Aphex Twin, The Future Sound Of London and the Drum CLub - as well as Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails - in the early '90s. >CURVE release "Pink Girl With The Blues" on Fatlip Records on September 2nd. My thoughts exactly...I found myself struggling to like the disc. It seemed like something I ought to like, but I just couldn't pull it off. The songs themselves are trash, yes, but the production is also sloppy. Only buy this disc if the basic formula of Curve's "sound" is enough to do the trick for you. Also, the artwork is horrid. There is no excuse for that kind of work--not from anyone. Does anyone know if Scylla is still going on? Halliday and Moulder must be on decent terms because he mixed the single. The one Scylla track I've heard was very good and it would be a shame to waste that for the sake of this nonsense. To be fair, a lot of Curve songs are rubbish so maybe there is some gold in their future still. (That's me being optimistic, folks. Don't be alarmed.) e
