If the first one was the "rock album" and Distance was the "ambient album" then this must be the "folk album" (he said, overgeneralizing wildly.) Many of the songs are at heart plaintive little acoustic-guitar ditties with HUGE SLABS OF WILDLY ECHOING AND LOOPING SAWTOOTH FEEDBACK on top, thus providing that mixture of delicate fragility and horrendous violence that we all dig so much (he said, stating an objective fact.) Very appropriate music to read Delany's "Dhalgren" to, I must say, since that's what I've been doing. [Any other fans of this book want to chat about it, send me private mail...]
