GTG presents the listener with a slice of disturbing images, thoughts, and feelings. a more lucid piece of f'ed up reality than what kristin hersh brings forth in her own music. i would think a lot of people, especially men, would have a problem listening to this record. this being a female's perspective on some of life's darker happenings and all. i didn't pay too much attention to what was written about GTG on the list before because i wanted to hear it & have an understanding of the music first... all topics aside, the music behind the the words on GTG is a lovely undercurrent of eerieness. sometimes stark and minimal..other times just whirring around in full. lisa's often child-like voice isn't so much intriguing as it is sad and melancholic given the things she's singing about. for people who like their music as pure entertainment and not a vehicle for provoking thoughts and feelings, i don't see how one can listen to this at first and not be moved in some capacity. blah blah blah..i'll stop rambling. it's cold..i'm gonna get some tea and search for something watchable on tv... *k*
