The show was awful, as Lisa did not care to make it through any of her songs. She was visibly frustrated and drunk and told everyone she couldn't finish the show. The bartender at the club was telling everyone who came to get a drink that Lisa is upset because her record label dropped her. After four years and four albums on 4AD, Germano has created a legacy of recorded music that will definitely live on for years to come. From 1994's "Happiness" album, with one of my fave Germano songs, "The Darkest Night Of All" to last Summer's Tchad Blake produced "Slide" album. I'd like to hear more about this if anyone knows. >> First of all I've seem to have missed the point in the messages in the list. I've read that Lisa Germano had left or was dropped by 4AD, but I didn't get it that she quit the business (yeah blame me for reading too fast). Being dropped isn't making me sad anymore, I used to but as I learned they show up on a different label if they want to stay in the music business. So no tears from me up to that point. But quitting the business that's another story witch after rereading the messages really gets me. Yeah I do care if she really left the music business. I'll gonna miss her. > I wonder if any of this had to do with the terrible way Lisa was treated by > the Smashing Pumpkins. I would want to leave music too if that happened to > me. I was more thinking of what happened after that Pumpkins thing. I mean the touring she did with the Eels. I never got it that it was said that she loved doing that tour. And I never believed it. I saw the show in Groningen, the Netherlands and what I remember of the show were 3 things: 1. The crowd that was obviously coming for the Eels didn't like her. They just were talking during her set (witch made it not easy for me to listen to Lisa). 2. She made a mistake during a song and when the crowd noticed that, because she stopped and said she fucked up and stared again, they did let it know that they didn't care by applauding for the fact that she did something wrong. And they did applaud again when she said that she was going to do her last song. 3. Lisa noticed that the people didn't like her and in-between two song she even said that she continued because her music and her songs were her mission (picture yourself a Lisa that is saying (or had to say) that on stage, it's an ugly picture). If the whole tour has been the same way I can see why she left the business. If i'm right than it hasn't been a pleasant time for here. Another strange thing, which (could) falls in place now, is that she didn't even know if her Slide album was out in Europe. She said something like it is song of my new album, I don't know if its out now in this country (the Netherlands) now. It wasn't at the time. Greeting Dovey. The point is that Lisa has been making records for quite a few years now, and shouldn't still be an opening act. She should ( and can) headline her own small tours. I reckon she has about the same size fan base as Mark Eitzel, if not larger, and he headlines his own shows in Europe all the time. Whoever decided to slot her with the Eels was on crack.
