The latest signing from 4AD, Gus Gus, are a collective of artists, musicians, filmakers, photographers, actors and more. The are from Reykjavik, Iceland, a city with 100,000 persons, many of which are extremely creative, thus a collective like Gus Gus. The collective has nine members, each of which plays a crucial point in all the group's actions. Their debut release on 4AD, an EP entitled "Polyesterday", is out now and available on 12" (BAD6013) and CD (BAD6013CD). Gus Gus will also release a full-length album early next year on 4AD. Gus Gus Behind The Scenes STEPH -photographer -cinematographer -visual artist Runs Elf19, Reykjavik's finest purveyor of vinyl dance music (with DJ Agzilla). A unique mixture of backbeats and romance has made Steph Herr Legowitz's favorite DJ. He is a great admirer of neck warmers. DANIEL AGUST -singer -songwriter -actor Former ski-maniac and amateur sports freak. Has been in successful Icelandic bands for nearly a decade. Previous band Nydonsk broke up two years ago after eight years of piling up gold records. Since then he has performed in musicals and plays in the Icelandic National Theatre and City Theatre of Reykjavik. He has two albums by other artists and also lends his voice to cartoon voiceover work (including dubbing Top Cat's Benny into Icelandic). BIGGI THORARINSSON -musician -computer programmer Currently working on OZ Virtual, the 3-D internet browser. He discovered music late at age 16 when he instantly fell in love with Sylvester (and other Hi-NRG acts) which led him to Visage, Depeche Mode and Marc Almond. He is previously known for his work as half of underground ambient-house group T-World, which he formed in the late eighties with DJ Herr Legowitz. MAGNUS JONSSON -singer -songwriter -actor Magnus loves California and often performs onstage as a homosexual. In fact, he is a former drag queen. Few Icelandic actors have performed onstage as homosexuals more often. He is the former lead singer of sentimental rock band The Silvertones. He adores James Bond and was once brutally killed in a Hollywood viking B-movie. HERR LEGOWITZ -musician -DJ Also known as Maggi Lego, Herr is Iceland's most celebrated DJ. He is the owner of the country's largest vinyl record collection. A master of synth trading, he loves only his girlfriend more than his fast cars. Herr contributed the special remixing effort on "Cold Breath '79" from the Gus Gus EP "Polyesterday". HAFDIS HULD -singer -songwriter -actress -dancer Hafdis has been dancing, acting and singing onstage since the age of four, encouraged by her lorry driving parents from Kopavogur. She sang with several bands before Gus Gus (including hard rock band Shark Remover). She performs in theatre and film. She is loved and admired by the youth of her home town for being the most entertaining Sunday school teacher at the local church. SEFAN ARNI -filmaker -director -writer Sefan is also a glider pilot and a philosophy dropout. He makes videos and documentaries with his brother (also in Gus Gus) Siggi Kjartansson as the visual duo of Kjol & Anderson. Growing up in a print shop, he familiarised himself with graphic design and various photographic techniques. He discovered an untapped passion for acting during the shooting of the latest Gus Gus film "Polyesterday". SIGGI KJARTANSSON -filmaker -director -writer -songwriter Siggi has an eye for detail. He is a former breakdancing elementary school teacher and founded the multi award-winning film production company Kjol & Anderson with his brother Sefan. He is also a professional liar. Manchmal Gus Gus gut! BALDUR STEFANSSON -Director of Financial Arts (DFA) -manager -film producer Baldur is also a controversial activist and once Iceland's most promising young political candidate. He is the son of the director of the Icelandic National Theatre.
