I think when you hear this new music you'll be suprised...It's a Kristin Hersh record that, at times, sounds a lot like it might've been a Muses record in another life. There are electric guitars, but also some acoustics...Intensity and real beauty...She simply allowed herself the option of playing any instrument(s) a song may have asked for (electric piano, Hammond organ, electric guitar, bass, acoustic guitar, etc.)...There are backing vocals and sounds you may never have heard her use before... The songs are unusual (for her) too; titles like "White Trash Moon", "A Cleaner Light", "Clay Feet", "Echo" and "Cathedral Heat"...Some very "Muses-like", some very "Kristin Hersh" and some neither. Having said all this, I don't have any idea when this record will be released...We have just signed with 4AD for the world, and together are seeking a 3rd party licensing deal for the US and Canada...That means some other label will release the 4AD material (like the Pixies were 4AD/Elektra, and the Cocteaus were 4AD/Capitol...In contrast, the Muses were "signed away" to Sire and 4AD ceased to be involved in their records here in the US)...I guess we're looking at something like late Spring '99...maybe Autumn(?)... Touring will likely include other musicians...we're thinking a drummer/percussionist (duh! of course it'll be Dave), Kristin on electric and acoustic, a organ/electric piano player (Robert Rust? we hope so...) and an electric/acoustic cellist (again I'd hope that Martin McCarrick's the guy, but it's WAY too early to tell *what*'s gonna happen with any of these folks)...This configuration would allow K to play everything from "Your Ghost" to "Mania" to the stuff on her new record (tentatively titled "Sky Motel")... I have to stress that this is all VERY early-days and any or all of this info might be subject to change. But, you asked and I like to share when I can. Hope this helps and doesn't just bug anyone...
