Question answered... What HNIA released thier "Universal Frequencies" ep last year (No. BAD 7006 CD) they wrote "[PART ONE]" on the cd and we all thought "Where is part two?" Well... it's the (mail order only) "Nice Day" ep I received today. On the back and inside of the sleeve they typed the word "part" (lowercase bodoni poster italic*) and a big "2" in a circle (same typeface*). Great release. Great songs (if you like HNIA...**) Date: Wed, 12 Nov 1997 16:09:40 -0800 From: Chris Palacios Subject: Re: hnia "nice day" The HNIA Nice Day EP was shipped to me last Monday (?-what seems like a couple of weeks in any case). If you had a chance to them live on their "Domestic" tour they were selling a "Domestic" cassette called "Michigan's Finest" on the "Domestic" label, (and subsequently inferior) Time Stereo. Basically it's the same domestic stuff on the "Import" (ultimately 'cooler') version on 4AD. If you looove HNIA then get it. If you love their most recent Stars from ESP release you'll find "Nice Day" perfectly listenable. I however don't feel or think it's "all that" even if it is an import. I'm glad I have it but don't think my life or music collection would be much changed without ever knowing about it. They are heroes of famous TV series produced by Tsuburaya Production. from left to right: Ultraman (the original one, about 1968 era) Warren ? Ultraman Tarou (back of the glove) Ultraman (under the glove, deformed) Ultra Seven (next to the original Ultraman) Ultra Seven ?? (I can't identify coz I can't see its face. I suppose that it is another Ultra Seven, for its legs are totally red.) Valtanian (the intelligent organism from the Star Valtan. Appearred in the series of Ultra Seven. I can't identify whether it is a Valtanian or a Valtanian Jr.) duwatch! masaya Date: Tue, 10 Feb 1998 21:21:44 -0500 From: Jeff Keibel Subject: Double glazed to dumbness There is this national music tabloid here in Canada called Exclaim! Here is their review of "Nice Day" from my favorite corn detassler - Warren Defevber and His Name Is Alive: After exploring the depths of the grooves of old vinyl ESP Record releases by psychedelic folkies like Pearls Before Swine to his satisfaction, Livonia, Michigan shut-in Warren Defevber (note spelling error) has shifted his influence search closer to home. Motown soul crossed with MC5 garage rock is His Name Is Alive's new vibe. The band kicks out the jams with style on this six-song EP, which clocks in at under 15 minutes, a fact that seems like a CD readout typo, since there's nothing hurried about these numbers. The characteristic His Name Is Alive obsession is still there in spades, even on groove-driven quick ones like "Wet". This is the sound of restless, intelligent pop. - Christopher Waters
