Date: Sat, 15 Nov 1997 04:40:16 -0600 From: Jeremy L Orr Subject: Simple Machines grinding to a halt? I hadn't seen any mention of this here...but I'm sure there are a couple of you that will be interested (maybe even saddened) to know. When asked about the future of the Simple Machines label, Jenny Toomey had this to say: "We're closing the label. It's time. A couple of bands are moving to the next level. The rest of 'em have solid places they can go and Kristin (Thomson) and I have a bunch of stuff that we want to do. We're going to have a big festival in the early spring to celebrate the closure." She also says that Liquorice is still recording, but mentions no planned release date or even a rough estimate. One would assume that they'll also have to find another label for the release, but she says nothing other than that "it will not be released on Simple Machines". This, along with the rest of the questionnaire-cum-interview, was found on an e-zine (?) called Rant's Nest: http://w3.nai.net/~jcody/romastar (Sorry for the hideously headline-esque sub line...it was the best I could do.)
