Date: Tue, 30 Sep 1997 12:23:49 -0400 From: Jeff Keibel Subject: Tsunami Out now on Simple Machines is the cool new album from Tsunami. Entitled "A Brilliant Mistake" (SM53CD), this 13 song long player features the hit single "Poodles" (SM52). Well, it wasn't a hit on Billboard but I liked it. The tracklisting is as follows: 1. Old Grey Mare 2. Great Minds 3. Double Shift 4. Enter Miguided 5. The Workers Are Punished 6. Liar's Dice (Flight Of The Chickens) 7. The Match 8. Poodle 9. Unbridled 10. DMFH 11. David Foster Wallace 12. Hockey 13. PBS The 7" only EP "Poodle" features an exclusive B-side called "Old City". The CD packaging uses cool rice paper, sort of the kind used in the CD for "Clearskin" by Insides or the Merge 100 Mark Robinson remix album. Additionally, Tsunami are the subject of a cover story in the new ish of Magnet magazine. Kristin Thomson and the second most beautiful girl in the world herself Jenny Toomey are nicely photographed on the cover too. Inside, Toomey talk of Liquorice (who have a new album ready to go, albeit not on 4AD) and mentions "...4AD are great and they gave us control, but..." Ivo helped arrange voice lessons for Toomey by the same trainer as Elizabeth Fraser apparently and she states she desires to work with Ivo in some capacity in the future.
