PRAM North Pole Radio Station LP (Domino/Wurlitzer Jukebox WIGCD49) A much anticipated follow-up to the Saragosa Sea LP, British group Pram are covering new ground which last year's excellent <> EP hinted at. The nine songs here (two of which were available in different forms on singles) are constructed with the same set of toy pianos, organs, theramin, tape loops, drums and guitars as previous work but it's faster paced and more stylized. <> for example is a Western, <> an experimental film, <> a French drama and <> a comedy. I've never been able to get over how good the drummer sounds at Pram concerts; luckily they've bumped up the rhythm section for this album and it sounds like something we can all listen to with a wry smile on.
