Tunnelvision strikes again. :) The Sabres of Paradise are Andy Weatherall and two other guys, a very weird and dubby techno project on Warp. Funky stuff with lots of cymbals, flange, spooky melodies and cool, catchy basslines. There is really no one else I could compare them to except maybe a twisted cross between Renegade Soundwave and Autechre, but that's pushing it. Weatherall (along with a hundred other people) is wrongly credited with 'saving techno'. He produced some of Screamadelica and the awful One Dove album, neither of which are anything like the Sabres. The other two characters in the band are not known to me. The stuff is very hip and weird, the second album is not very musical and my descriptions are largely of the first album. They are not one of my favorite artists but they are one of the most innovative and unique bands around, and no one has a similar feel. They also sound nothing like In the Nursery...anyway I hope this is helpful. If you want to sample something of theirs I recommend Sabresonic rather than Haunted Dancehall. einexile
