Brief, storming and pretty damn neat. The second track My World is a little more restrained and even briefer, but it doesn't really go anywhere in its two minutes. Demon from the first 4AD 7" appears in acoustic form, and to these ears sounds the better for it. Some of Scheer's songs are OK wrapped up in cod-metal guitar, but others are best left alone - and this is one of those. The final track is a demo version of Nemesis which presumably will appear on the forthcoming LP. Again they veer dangerously toward Soungarden / Smashing Pumpkins territory, but again somehow miraculously pull it off. I guess the wispy Goths out there among you who seem to think that 4AD should forever be stuck in a 1985 timewarp will probably hate this, but I'm coming off the fence that I've been sat on since Schism to give Scheer a big thumbs up.
