Last night I picked up a copy of their latest?? release called DJ.Kicks which includes Thievery Corporation's "Shoalin Satellite" which is identical to the album version (Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi). This cd does not have a copyright date so I don't know if it was released previous to "Sessions". Both releases are absolutely worthwhile seeking. Their DJ-Kicks series is very recommendable : they invite well-known figures to do a mix CD (generally the vinyl version is a non-mix and the CD a mixed version of the same tracklisting). Kruder & Dorfmeister are now onto their second such outing for !K7 : the first "sessions" came out about 96/97 and just recently a double CD has been releases, which is very down-tempo lazy listening. Also check out !K7's Freestyle Files series. Date: Wed, 6 Jan 1999 00:33:39 -0800 From: Jon Subject: Re: K&D/4AD Hi, K&D are finally getting their dues here. That "DJ Kicks" CD came out close to two years ago. I found one other K&D mix CD at my work yesterday called "Conversions" on another label, I can't remember. I love the "DJ Kicks" session, and have a few others of that series, all really good and a broad spectrum: Claude Young, Carl Craig, Nicolette (from Massive Attack). Nicolette's 2-CD set is a real genre buster everything from funk, acid jazz, to abstract techno. Also recommended K&D's own release "G-Stoned" on the label of the same name "G-Stoned", and Tosca (Kruder solo) on G-Stoned. cheers, Jon
