On the front there's a lovely picture of a funeral directors called "Jollys" and the tracks are: 1. Sound of Violence 2. A Name for my pain 3. Pain (violence version) 4. Corpses (version) Not a great departure from the "Ghost" album, some remixed and very spooky instrumentals which have very cleverly been constructed using drum machines, samplers and an overused sequencer. There's not much base in this drum n' bass feast although there are some annoying clicks on tracks 3 & 4 where Matt hasn't quite spent enough time cleaning up his loops [I think]. I'd say this is just an extension to his album, which is an amazing collection of paranoia. The problem is, I never seem to find the right mood to listen to it all the way through in one go. CD also, though I have the 12" vinyl version. Sounds like a gathering of scraps to me, I read somewhere that it's a sort of clearing out of the cupboard ready for a new phase (which if it's anything like the second phase of FSA will be much the same as before, but who's going to complain?). The Third Eye Foundation - Sound of Violence This record is different than their older stuff. It is full of crazy beats and bizzare sounds but they are more dispersed....not as dense and layered as their earlier stuff. A friend said it sounded similar to newer Aphex Twin; I can't confirm this but it does sound more techno. If you like their earlier stuff you WILL like this but expect it to sound different....
