     Subject: Tortoise - Music for Workgroups


Second of the Tortoise remix EPs - this one remixed by Oval, and
interesting rather than enjoyable (the remixes of "Djed" by UNKLE and
John Mackentire (sp?) are wonderful).  I'm only familiar with Oval
through their ultra-abstract track on the "Folds and Rhizomes"
compilation, and this is in similar style - a lot of clicking, pinging
and pure tones, nothing much in the way of tune or groove.  Unlike the
previous EP, this sounds nothing like Tortoise (there's no indication of
which tracks from "Millions..." these are allegedly remixes of).
Probably best avoided unless you particularly like the experimental side
of techno.
