Facts appreciated, gossip tolerated. ------------------ Yup. The Wolfgang Press and 4AD "parted amicably" (in the oft used terminology of the record industry when they prefer not to discuss the details). There's no telling WHY, though. Someone on the list circulated some rumour that they (TWP) had gone on some sort of music shopping spree, spending thousands of dollars/pounds and charged the lot to 4AD. 4AD, not being very happy about that, canned them. Who KNOWS how true THAT is... I think it would be criminal for some major not to pick them up now, though. They're one band who've been underrated for far too long, and have a lot of potential to really make it with a little bit more support. That's just IMO. I read an article 'round the time Queer was released, where Andrew Gray had mentioned how utterly BROKE they were, and how it was getting harder to keep going with the band when it seems like you're not getting anywhere. That's too bad, honestly, 'cause I thought Queer and Funky Little Demons were brilliant. Their earlier work is a bit less accessible to many, but I like it, especially "The Legendary Wolfgang Press and Other Tall Stories" and "Standing Up Straight". Birdwood Cage never really turned me on (I don't listen to it much, though), and I have yet to hear The Burden of Mules, since I have it on vinyl and don't have a turntable...*sigh*.
