Subject: The Rossburger Report

Continuing in my one post per month mode,

Remember The Rossburger Report? The band Ivo
saw live several years ago, which reportedly featured
at least one member of Xmal Deutschland and some huge
number of other guitarists? Well, Ivo may have passed
on adding them to 4AD / Guernica, but they've finally
had something released on a World Domination sampler
called "Slow Death In The Metronome Factory"
Here's the tracklisting:

Wallstar - Razor
Pram - Carnival Of Souls
Critters Buggin - Space Rant
Pro-seed - General HP
Perfume Tree - Too Late, Too Early
Colin Newman - May
Rossberger Report - Der Greuel
Scenic - Ionic Curve
Scala - Vitamin X
Electric Company - Beautiful And Clean
UI - Horn Crown Label
Flotilla - Through And Out
Sugar Plant - Saudade

I don't know if this is a publicly available retail sampler
or not, and there seems to be nothing about it on their
web site http://imusic.com/worlddom

So the Rossberger track sounds very much like
Tone and Scenic: instrumental droning guitars. The press
sheet says they have 25 guitars playing at the same time.
Sounds great.

I've only heard parts of the other ones at best, but first
impressions are that Pram sounds like they always do, Colin Newman
sounds much more like Wire than he did on previous solos, Scala
is terrible, Electric Co is typical harshness from Mr. Laner,
and Scenic is one of the filler tracks from Acquatica.

More later.
