We are listening to a new Spanish 4AD promo entitled 'Dust Distorts' cat no: EVE4AD1. 15 tracks spanning our 18 year history. Bauhaus to the Birthday Party, Hope Blister to Kristin Hersh, Colourbox to Cuba. Even another starry smooth hound track! Anyway I've no idea how many have been made, or what the deal in Spain is with this, and as stated I have none to give away. Sorry. Our licensee in Spain is Caroline records. The tracklisting is: 1.Bauhaus-In the flat field 2.The Birthday Party-Nick the stripper 3.Colourbox-The moon is blue 4.Ulta Vivid Scene-Special One 5.Lush-I've been here before 6.Belly-Geppetto 7.Tarnation-Two wrongs won't make things right 8.Kristin Hersh-Your ghost 9.The Hope Blister-Sweet unknown 10.Lisa Germano-Tomorrowing 11.Starry Smooth Hound-Coco crush (edit) 12.His name is alive-Can't always be loved (remix) 13.Thievery Corporation-38:45 14.Gus Gus-Polyfunk 15.Cuba-Urban light (12:00 a.m. mix) The most impressive track IMO is Coco Crush by Starry Smooth Hound, when the hell something from this guys? The worst..Thievery Corporation-38:45 (ragamuffin voice is really vulgar and non interesting at all). The Gus Gus song is an unreleased track (at least is what the sleeve says). If you're just curios, i've bough Dif Juz-Extractions, X-Mal Deutschland-Fetish, Pieter Nooten/M.Brook-Sleeps with the fishes and Le mystere des voix bulgares (vol 1). Still thinking what else buy...if someone could help me with any sort of a "must-have list" it will help me a lot (excluding all DCD, Pixies, T.Muses, Lush, UVS, RHP, Bauhaus, Belly, HNIA). Oops...the price in Spain of the CD with the sampler is 1900 ptas (about $12.6), $4 less than usual for 4AD stuff here. 'dust distorts' comes in a dark greyish card sleeve that looks v23'ish only at very very first sight. on more careful reading of sleeve notes and regarding credits you'll find that it's a spanish designer commissioned from Caroline. Sony Austria are somehow connected to that as well, as far as i recall without having it in front of me right now. what caused my disappointment was that whoever was responsible for the sleeve notes did them very careless: - 'can't always be loved (remix)' is in fact the album version - 'urban light' (12 am) turns out to be 'cross the line' (!) which in second sight is amazing as it's the very first mix which appears much darker and bass-oriented than the finished mix on the proper release. - i remember something about the spelling of 'gepetto' as well, but nothing *really* serious.. yeah - not to forget there's this endless seeming sort of ambient 'harp-like jam' piece featuring vinnie miller aka starry smooth hound on vocals - and this is just the 'edit'! in fact *his* first release might be something to really die for.
