Subject: eyesore live

I've moved the primary eyesore site from ifi to Quimby. The new URL
is <URL:http://quimby.gnus.org/eyesore.html>.

To celebrate the 11 month anniversary of the last time I updated
eyesore, I've, er, updated eyesore. I've incorporated all the data
you've mailed me over the last year -- the backlog was 400KB. My
poor, poor fingers will now be resting for a while. *whine*

The changes should spread out to the mirror sites after a while.
(Note to maintainers: the hott-tar.gz file has been updated, and
there's a link to it from the above page.)

I've also added the scans you've sent me, but I have a nagging feeling
that I've misplaced a bunch of them. If I have, please let me know.

Since I now have my own Web server, I've been trolling for things to
make it do. I remembered that I used to have an interactive Web
interface to the live database in, er, 1993, so I went looking for the
sources -- and I found them. This was from before the days of CGI, so
the code was kinda musty. To say the least. But I installed the web
server it used to run under (Plexus; last version released in '94),
and the darn thing still ran. (Although I had to install an older
version of Perl and stuff.)

<URL:http://quimby.gnus.org:8002/eyesore?> is the entry point. You
can have it generate all sorts of reports and search the data in many
ways. And grade the releases, and add reviews, and put things on the
billboards. There's even code for a shopping cart in there, but I
disabled that.

I must have been mad.

Anyway.
