"This Rimy River" news To all the other list members who purchased one of these little devils, here's a bit of news I got directly from v23 as to the status of the ltd. "...Rimy..." is response to a fax I had sent to 4AD UK mail order: > >Hello from Timothy at v23. Unfortunately for all of you, Keren at Mail Order >has left 4AD last week, and so, being the 'new boy' (and American to boot), >I've been given the unenviable job of answering all the "Rimy River" >enquiries. >These are understandably starting to pour in, so I'd be very much obliged if >you'd pass this info on to list members. > >There has been yet another delay in the Limited Edition "Rimy River". >Basically >what has happened is that our bookbinder, who is putting the catalogues >together by hand, mistakenly cropped about one-third of the pages two inches >smaller than the rest of the book. They are insured against such disasters >and >so came up with the money to reprint those pages that were miscropped. >However, >keeping in mind (a) trying to get money from an insurance agency and (b) >reprinting a 7-color job both take time, we were unfortunately unable to meet > >our deadline. The copy seen at the "Is Minty A Man?" exhibition in Newcastle >was the only copy yet produced. We had hoped to have ten done by then to >sell, >but just barely got that one. > >Understandably, since you've been charged for the book already, you're >starting >to wonder where on earth it is. The new deadline to start mailing the limited > >edition out is within one month's time, around the end of April. We are doing > >everything in our power to speed things along. As for your suggestion, James, > >that we include some posters from "Minty" as thanks for your patience, I >think >there's no question that they are deserved on all your parts, and I will >check >with the warehouse to see if we have enough to include one with everyone's >"Rimy". > >In closing, let me add that, while the constant waiting can be annoying (I >waited a whole year once to get a David Sylvian poster from UK Mail Order, >but >that's another story) the finished product is absolutely amazing, and I'm >sure >you will all feel that the long wait has been justified. > >If there are any more delays forthcoming (god forbid), I'll send another >E-mail >to keep you all up to date. > > > On behalf of all of us, our most sincere apologies for this unforseeable >delay. > > > > >Timothy O'Donnell > > well there it is folks, I'll keep you all aprised of any further memo's or updates I get from them. -blubelknol@aol.com Date: Sun, 7 Apr 1996 17:57:33 0000 From: cliff w (cliff@FOURAD.DEMON.CO.UK) Subject: (no subject) Update on "This Rimy River" Limited Edition Apologies to those of you who've ordered the limited edition, and are wondering where on earth it is. There has been a small setback at the binding stage, which has since been remedied, and we're shooting for a mail-out date of end-of-April. I'll post further notices if any other delays seem imminent. Let's hope not, eh? The waiting will be over soon. According to the one poor soul whose job it is to wrap and send them they are currently being put in their boxes and all will be shipped out by the end of this week. This, however, only applies to the UK and the rest of Europe. Wrapping the babies seems to be a somewhat difficult job because of their size - they are larger and heavier than the regular version. The copies for the USA have already been sent over and will be taken care of by 4AD US. He could not tell how they will go on about sending them out.
