Roasted Chestnuts

Contributed by Diane Zarb on Nov. 11, 1998

Diane says:
"This is not much, but I asked my parents what they do at Christmas time when we have roasted chestnuts:

All they do is rinse the chestnuts. Cut a cross on the flat side (if they find one). Preheat the oven to about 400 or 450 for about 15 minutes to 1/2 hour. Place the chestnuts with the cross cut facing up on a cookie sheet. Keep checking the chestnuts every 5 to 10 minutes. The area where you made a cross should be bending upwards. They test the chestnuts by opening one to see if it is soft enough for them. And that is all."
