Properly the City of London. The commercial and financial center of London. Resident population, 26,923. The most ancient section of London, located on the city of the original Roman city. The City is legally a separate municipality, distinct from the County of London, and has an ancient civic corporation of its own.


BERY: Holder and Stevenson, of Threadneedle Street, was known to Holmes and Watson as "the second largest private banking concern in the City of London."


REDH: Mr. Jabez Wilson's pawn shop was on Saxe-Coburg Square, located near the City.
