World: Europe: Britain: London: Doctors' Commons

The name applied to a society of ecclesiastical lawyers in London, dissolved in 1857, and to the building near St. Paul's cathedral which housed this corporation. Records of marriage licenses, divorces, and wills were kept here until the building was demolished in 1867.

SPEC: Holmes: "And now, Watson, we shall order breakfast, and afterwards I shall walk down to Doctors' Commons, where I hope to get some data which may help us in this matter."
