World: Europe: Britain: London: Imperial Theatre

Built in 1875 as part of the amusement emporium known as the Royal Aquarium. It covered the site now occupied by the Wesleyan Central Hall on the north side of Tothill Street. The Imperial was leased during its later years to Lily Langtry, which brought it more popularity than previously. The theatre was closed 1895 - 1900 and was torn down in 1908. [Tr][BG]

SOLI: Miss Violet Smith's late father "conducted the orchestra at the old Imperial Theatre."
