World: Europe: Britain: England: Thames River

River with the greatest economic importance in England. London is located on the banks of the Thames, sixty miles from its mouth, and the river is navigable by ocean steamers as far as the metropolis. [JT]

BRUC: The house of Sir James Walter had green lawns stretching down to the Thames.

SECO: Eduardo Lucas's home on Godolphin street was in Westminster, between the river and the Abbey, almost in the shadow of the great Tower of the Houses of Parliament.
